Coworker has a “make a sculpture” toy on his desk: the base is a magnet. I made this while he wasn’t looking.

You have a bin with six types of balls. You draw a ball out randomly, one at a time. What is the average number of times you need to draw before you have a matching pair in your hand? When you replace “ball” with “socks”, the answer is either “six” or “you never get a pair”.

Read three books by Emma Bull recently that I enjoyed: War for the Oaks, Finder, Falcon. Though she has a tendency to kill off the interesting characters. I started mentally marking off who I shouldn’t get too attached to, in later books I read.

me: “I’m thinking of moving in with my friend. I mean, I probably will. I mean. I have his keys already.”
mal: “… and where’d you put the body?”

(moving update: I’m going to be going to Jeff’s place on most of the days I do ballroom related activities in the evening. Will be heading home on the rest — free food, bigger room, and mom still trumps all when convenience isn’t an issue ^_^. oh, and better heat!)

I’ve also discovered that, after a long day of work, I enjoy the long train ride back home. That and tuning out when I get back, either reading a book or being on the web. It’s always been true, I think, but it takes not having a train ride back and being social after work for a day to realize it. It’s a little funny that I’d like to tune out, considering that “long day of work” usually means that I spent the last few hours of the day not talking to anyone.
